 A PHOTOGRAPH GIFT ! - by CWarren - Dec 21, 2003 7:21pm

QuoteReply A PHOTOGRAPH GIFT !

GREAT GIFT IDEA FOR ANY HOLIDAY!!!!!!!

For those of you who have photographs of your Ancestors, take the time and go through your trunks and make copies and frame them for the family members who dont.

Believe it or not, there are a lot of us who do not have photographs of their Parents or Grandparents that would love to have them.

:)

REAL FUNERAL HOMES ? - by CWarren/Site... - Jul 21, 2004 8:05pm

Since my journey into Genealogy I've found that research finds its way from the smallest of things you thought would'nt be relevant.

Do you remember when wakes and funerals where held at the homes of the deceased or, of a close family member?

My brother submitted an old funeral booklet, that had a list of people who attended the funeral of a Bessie Motley, in 1951, inside the home of Edith Bryant.

On this document information was found on several missing family members.

Anyone out there with such documents dig em up and see what information you can find.

Re: Allen Photos

Hello,

And thank you for viewing OPOAA.

Regarding your questions about John Allen:

His name was John Wesley Allen, born in Alabama in 1875, and died in Fayette, PA in 1950.

John Allen was Mary Stockdales second husband. His occupation was a coal miner. You can go to the Updated section of OPOAA and find his children's picture there.

Memphis area Out-of-Business funeral home - by Devon - Jul 12, 2005 7:54pm

QuoteReply Memphis area Out-of-Business funeral home

From what I've been told, this was the only funeral home in the Raleigh-Bartlett area that handled blacks. It closed down in the late 60's I believe, and at one point the building was used by Bartlett Emementary school (not exactly sure what it's used for now though).

Genology Study - by Steve Thomps... - Aug 20, 2005 5:17pm

QuoteReply Genology Study

I am doing and have been doing a study on my fathers family for about 8 years now, I have been able to locate his last name and some members of his family at least there names. However there are a number of them I have not been able to locate. My Father's family started be believe in the Madison Fla. area and possibly the Southern partion of Ga. we are just uable to know just where. We do know he was a very wealth land owner, and Methodist minister, He was also a Grand Master, infact the sixth Grand Master in Jacksonville Fla. during the Great Fire of 1901. That is apart of history. I know where he is buried through death certificates. I would love to have be able to come across some information regarding his funeral service which was held in 1912 in jacksonville. His name was John H. Dickerson, His son my father was name Horatio W. Dickerson who passed in 1970 in Gainsville. I do not have his last name because I was born out of wed lock and during the 40's it was proper to give the child the last name of the mothers father, and place the mothers father name on the birth certificate. I know this is only a small amout of information, but if there is anyone out there who this might spark a thought please contact me. Thank you so very much

Steve Thompson

Ps my mothers family is from Daytona Beach,
