Thompson is arguably the greatest elephant trainer--black or white--in American history. He is the only trainer to incorporate a somersaulting elephant into his act. He was trained by Stewart Craven, the first great American elephant trainer, on the Forepaugh Circus in the 1880s. He achieved his greatest success with his own elephant act in Europe in the 1890s and 1900. He was an extremely talented individual.

OMG! Hold on to your hats for this! I have to laugh to keep from crying.....how long has this pic been posted. I sure that Ray Perkins (the man that posted it has more connections to it). This is a pic of the famous elephant trainer "Ephriam Thompson" who was trained by Stewart Craven and worked for the Adam Forepaugh Circus. He was the best with his talents.

I'm not sure of family members, but this would certainly be a great photo to "keep" if you have the original and I would guess that if there are more, they might his family / circus co-workers and would be very valuable.

Take care and let me know what happens with this pic!
